Biography Doris Richards Doris Richards has resided in West Seattle for decades spanning a lengthy career in the community. With partner Warren Lawless, another venerable West Seattle "dignitary," Doris founded West Seattle Associates, Inc., which underwent several simple name changes such as Neighborhood Telephone Directories, Inc. and NTD Publishing, Inc. d/b/a Banana Pages.Doris supports NextPages by serving as a key advisor to the company. She, as many believe, think it's now time to combine quality neighborhood phone books with the advantages of the Internet, while keeping focused on West Seattle and neighboring areas. Doris oversaw the growth of the independent Yellow Pages industry in the Pacific Northwest. She was the granddame of the industry. Believing they were doing the right thing, Doris and other owners of NTD/Banana Pages sold the publishing company to a Canadian corporation that sadly and dramatically changed the spirit of the publications. The Canadian company went bankrupt (into receivership) within about 18 months and the company was caught in a legal morass. Eventually, a California-Texas company bought the company out of receivership. Doris believes that it’s time for local Yellow Pages to be published by people with a truly local interest. Doris and the others behind NextPages intend to bring back the local flavor and the value of combining the printed product with the Internet capabilities. By bringing the local Westside community this combination at the lowest possible advertising rates, everyone wins!
